The Ettina Bujha Trek, also known as the Shishila Gudda Trek, is one of the most adventurous and scenic treks in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Located near Dharmasthala in Chikmagalur district, this trek is a hidden gem for those seeking raw wilderness, panoramic views, and thrilling trails. The name Ettina Bujha means “Ox’s Shoulder”, and the peak truly resembles the hump of an ox. Rising to an altitude of about 1,300 meters (4,265 ft), Ettina Bujha offers a unique trekking experience through dense forests, rolling grasslands, rocky climbs, and narrow ridge walks that lead to its iconic summit. - •Pack your small day backpack with essentials & packed lunch, then head towards the trek starting point.
- •Complete the permit formalities at the forest office and begin the trek through dense shola forests, streams, and rolling grasslands
- •Reach the summit of Ettina Bhuja Peak, From the summit, enjoy breathtaking 360° views of the Charmadi Ghats, Shishila Valley, and the majestic Ballarayanadurga ranges.
- •Enjoy your packed lunch at the summit and descend back to the base by evening
- •Enjoy evening snacks, group activities, campfire, and dinner. Overnight stay at the homestay.
