The Kurinjal Trek is one of the hidden gems of the Western Ghats in Karnataka, nestled deep inside the Kudremukh National Park in Chikmagalur. Famous for its lush shola forests, wide grasslands, misty valleys, and refreshing streams, this trek offers a perfect balance of adventure and natural beauty. With a moderate difficulty level, the trail is well-suited for both beginners with basic fitness and experienced trekkers seeking a peaceful yet rewarding weekend escape. The trek covers about 7 km one way and takes around 5–6 hours to complete. Standing at an altitude of 1,159 meters (3,800 ft), Kurinjal rewards you with panoramic views of the Kudremukh ranges and endless greenery stretching across the Western Ghats. - •Reach the homestay, freshen up, and have a hot breakfast.
- •Pack your small day backpack with essentials and a packed lunch, then head towards the Kurinjal trek starting point.
- •Complete the permit formalities at the forest office and begin the Kurinjal Trek through dense shola forests, crystal-clear streams, and rolling grasslands.
- •Reach Kurinjal Peak (~3,800 ft) and enjoy breathtaking 360° views of the Kudremukh ranges, misty valleys, and endless green landscapes.
- •Enjoy your packed lunch at the summit.
- •Begin descent, retracing the same scenic trail with plenty of photo stops.
- •Reach the base point by evening and drive back to the homestay.
- •Relax with evening snacks, followed by a warm local dinner and campfire under the stars.
