The Shivagange Trek is a perfect blend of adventure, spirituality, and breathtaking views, making it one of the most popular treks near Bangalore. Located in Tumkur district, just 60 km from Bangalore, this trek is a favorite weekend escape for both beginners and seasoned trekkers. Standing tall at 4,022 ft, Shivagange offers a moderately challenging trail of about 6 km one way, which usually takes 4-5 hours to complete. The path consists of steep rock-cut steps and railings that ensure a safe yet exciting climb. The trek is famous for its sunrise views, 360° hilltop panoramas, ancient temples, caves, and natural springs like Olakal Theertha. At the summit, the rock formation resembles a Shiva Linga, adding cultural and mythological significance to the adventure. Itinerary
- •4:30 AM: Reach the trek base. Your trek leader will conduct a quick briefing, providing instructions and ensuring everyone is ready
- •5:30 AM: Start the trek through steep steps, rocky patches, and caves
- •6:30 AM: Reach the summit (4,022 ft) and enjoy the sunrise, panoramic views, and temple exploration.
- •7:15 AM: Explore the ancient temples and enjoy panoramic views of nearby hills
- •7:30 AM: Start the descent back to the base
- •9:15 AM: Reach the base, freshen up, and head to the nearest restaurants
- •10:30 AM: Enjoy a hot South Indian breakfast on the way back to Bangalore
- •12:00 PM: Arrive back in Bangalore, with drop-off points being the same as the pickup locations
